Baruch Haba’im; WELCOME!

Shirat Hayam is a Reconstructionist Community committed to empowering and engaging our members
to create a vibrant and participatory Jewish community for over 25 Years.
Through our inclusive and participatory approach, we encourage and challenge people to find meaning in Jewish life. We come together to pray, celebrate, and learn. We engage with Torah and tradition in ways that allow us to be curious, questioning and respectful while seeking to understand Judaism’s relevance in our lives today. Our services are very participatory and emphasize that there is no “right way” to pray. Feel free to sing and pray out loud with us, hum along or just remain silent and let other voices wash over you. As an inclusive community all backgrounds, knowledge levels and even opinions are welcome. Kippot (head coverings) tallitot (prayer shawls) and other ritual garments are both optional and respected. We believe our service, aided by our prayerbook, provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect and meditate on our lives through words of poetry and prayer both ancient and very modern. The words in our prayerbook reflect our belief in the evolving nature of Judaism. We strive to have the wording of our prayers reflect our values today.
